“Proposition 54″

© September 2003

Proposition 54 is
Callin’ upon
California’s
Ma-jo-ri-ty mass-es
To break down
The color lines
Inside
Tha sta-tis-ti-cal
Data of
Racial class-es
But tha class is
NOT dismissed….

I wonder if we can find another way to break down tha color lines
Without havin’ to put limits
Upon the public use of public statistics
I mean–
If it commands the public interest,
Then shouldn’t it rightfully be the public’s business
To know & use for studies out of our own accord?
California, can we really afford
To lose this resource
On essential information?
Think about it.
This “melting pot” nation
Has been known for
Its discrimination
Its segregation
And its reparations
To minority races for some past mistake.
I’m sorry, Uncle Sam.
You may have paid a billion dollars,
But like Ms. McMillan said,
Baby, you’re just a day too late.
So why don’t you put those dollars
Toward all of the state funds that you’ve dipped in to?
So that we don’t have to have a mockery upon racial issues.
And so that we can put that money right back in to
Promoting a higher education for our future seeds,
Because in 10 years,
We’ll have about a million more children to feed.
Now, Mr. Connerly
Mr. U.C. Regent
How do you expect to achieve
Your utopian dream of “a color-blind society”
When you’re askin’ this state to allow racial profiling
To go on just a little more quietly?
And you wanna call it “racial privacy”?!
Shiiit…
It’s all just a lie, you see.
Because you can’t expect to pass this initiative without affecting
The demanded consistency of medical research.
Even though you claim that that most of it won’t be touched, so it can’t hurt.
But what about the ethnic studies that require
Certificates of death and new births?

NEVER GOT TO FINISH THIS… :-(
