i… wish i could
speak my piece
i… wish my words
could reach
further than the next man
said,
i… wish i could teach
much more than
the typical nonsense
could or even can
’cause i know,
we’ve all grown to be
too damn cynical
and i know
we need more than invisible
or subliminal messages
to get this shit off our chests
said, we’ve been
more than indelible
yeah, we need more than the rest
of the divisible denominators
we need somethin’ more like
a predominantly positive solution
whenever confusion
becomes more convoluted
than the diluted
ideas of utilitarianism
because Jeremy Bentham
becomes more star-struck than exuded
ideals of David Beckham
as we become more and more inferior
than hysterectomies
our standards start expandin’ towards exterior
methods and 6 AM morning reveilles,
like existential moments of choice
we find ourselves responsible
for coining cliche quotes
and noting famous men for saying
the same, old common sense
sen-ten-ces
no-game, no-vice,
no-deep-bold wit
oh no, it’s so damn, fucking repetitive
and yet,
we somehow find ourselves repeating history,
like it was a new day
like we could never find
or subside to a new way of living
like we liked to take
oh-so-much-more than we’d been giving
reliving day-old mistakes,
like we were meant to double take
over seconds we had meant to take back
said, we always seem to give in
but never live to take back
the last laugh
that made us feel like shit
and yet,
we can feel so damn bad
that we can ask God
not to be so rash
yeah, we can still clasp
our hands together
and pray He’ll be more rational
i said,
we can abashedly
bow our heads in His Name
& defend our actions as bein’ humane
in order to explain our excuses
with irrefutable alibis
yeah, and we’ll be able to diffuse our lies
without even realizin’ we’ve compromised
truth with elusive concepts of reality
we can cautiously
slip ‘n slide thru Apostle Creeds,
then consciously provide
a righteous penance
for mortal sinners to get to heaven,
yeah, and we can improvise
upon the seven sacraments
and let the lessons
become a lot more than less since
we’ve become more than dense
shiiit…
we ask ourselves:
do we really need a Holy presence
to feel the Spirit or be blessed and
do we really need the answers to be,
• YES •
I BELIEVE IN GOD ALMIGHTY,
THE MAKER OF HEAVEN AND EARTH…
then again, i believe we’re God’s reflection
and i know what His seeds are worth
no, don’t think we need an intervention
’specially if it’s in archaic words
’cause ain’t no third-
person’s Scripture
gonna paint a better picture
than the own experience I have with The Man.
oh no, and
no one can tell me about the fiery bush
or the burning look in His eye
the time He took a few seconds
to do a little 2-step in
and erase the 2nd footsteps
before takin’ the second left
in to my life
i said, ain’t nobody knows
what’s wrong or right like i do
because when things go wrong,
He’s standin’ right there
always and beside you
and it don’t take long
for Him to remind you
of the blessings you’ve forgotten
and taken for granted
no, but it don’t take long
for you to hand in
your faith to an idolized story
oh, but it don’t take long
to deny the temptation of Forty
Thieves or Caribbean Pirates
because the prize is
worth more than all the silver & gold
inside a Dead Man’s treasure chest
yeah, at the end of the night
the Dipper is bigger
and so much better than the quest
of any legend or myth
you’ve ever heard of
i said, The Word On This Earth
is God, and God is The First Love
of Isis, Gaea, Geb, Mama Nature
God is the Master of all
and We are His Grace,
His hand-crafted labor…

“bow our heads in His Name

Says so Much.
