“Stained Masses”

- (original) -

broken glasses are amassed in stain to attract masses, like media
stone walled & stacked up to back up holy histories & His encyclopedia
they say the more the merry, but lately it’s more like a contemporary hysteria
of disciples boldly screamin’ out curses
like mortal breaths could really hurt
heaven
& like they really ain’t gonna be genuflectin’ to pay Him respect and
endin’ their nights with fingertips gesticulatin’ air crosses
prayin’ to gain the strength to bear the day’s ill-fated losses
faith silently whispered in between pauses
shiiit…
we crucify Jesus every second our positive
script-ures are flipped & we’re standin’ on opposite sides
i said,
good & evil collide every day
but we still try to break bonds
when we should be breakin’ bread
yeah, we let our greed dip down & drown sins in our flesh
eternally man-makin’ the mounds into more mountains of mess

- (2nd version – writer’s block!) -

shattered stained glasses are amassed to attract the broken masses, like media
these stone walled classics erect Towers, like Babel, that broadcast His encylopedia
Holy histories are Sunday-stacked up & backed up with Dead-ly Seascrollin’ in manna
but contemporary disciples are screamin’ hysterical curses
as if mortal outbursts could really hurt heaven
& like they really ain’t gonna be genuflectin’ to pay Him respect &
end ill-fated days with night lights & signed crosses
a moment of silence to silent regrets exhaled between pauses
that’s right, i said
guilty consciences will always pray when they wanna cut losses
shiiit…
maybe we were better left off
changes just to gain
